I’ve realised that the piece that I published here in June was probably a little disingenuous. I basically said that it can be fun and can help connection and engagement if you ask for writing prompts. I’ve had a FB page for my blog for several years and thought I’d give it a shot. (And here’s the link to the original article).

Go On, Ask Your Readers for Writing Prompts

The thing is…I didn’t say I was thoroughly stuck on two of the suggestions and didn’t have a scooby doo of a clue regarding what I was going to write about. When I did come up with something, it also made me think of how people might react to my initial ideas on the topics.

Engagement isn’t always straightforward

Neither is your response to it.

The thing is you do open yourself up to people being a little mischievous when you put out that kind of call to action. I can imagine the little toerags (one of whom I have known for an obscenely long time), shoulders hunched and shaking with silent devilment over the keyboard thinking “Ah ha, that’ll flummox her!”.

I will qualify that and say that I really don’t object because it *is* what I asked for, but I have been scratching my head…
