Lord Bryon was officially not good husband material

If you ever feel the need to experience what would happen if you threw Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice” into a blender with the National Enquirer, some deeply questionable porn and a handful of peyote, anything to do with Lord Bryon will provide you with a convincing taste of the action.

This is definitely true of his marriage to Lady Byron. The couple would only live together for a year and were legally separated after two, with the resulting scandal causing Byron to leave for Europe, never to return.

Baroness Anne Isabella Noel Byron (known as Annabella), Baroness Wentworth and Baroness Byron (née Milbanke; 17 May 1792–16 May 1860) was without a doubt, the last person who should have married Lord George Gordon Byron, the infamous Romantic poet. The further you investigate the circumstances surrounding the marriage and get a better perspective on their respective personalities, the madder it seems. Even taking into account the lack of contraception at the time. it’s a miracle that they made it past the honeymoon, let alone producing a daughter before splitting up finally and legally after two tempestuous years.
